O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord. You hem me in--behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.

Daddies, Pepaws, Grandpas, and Pops

Father's Day 2011

What a wonderful time we had this year celebrating the fathers in our family!

I am so thankful for my amazing husband. He is the most wonderful father to our kiddos, and I can't help but smile every time I see the three of them together. It is a joy watching them grow close, and a delight to see him lead them. Happy Father's Day, Love...another reason I think you're such a great dad is because of how you love me. You are an incredible example for our children of what a godly husband is!

Happy Father's Day to my Daddy or as Kinsey and Dax call him...Pepaw!

I don't have many pictures of my daddy and me as an adult, so this one is special! I love how the Lord is growing our relationship. It makes me smile to look at this and see how much I look like my daddy.

The kiddos love how much Pepaw likes to play! I don't think there are any slides he wouldn't be happy to conquer for his grandkiddos!  :-)

Happy Father's Day to my Father-in-law, or to Kinsey and Dax...Grandpa!!
(actually...to Dax right now, it's "Pam-pa"!)

Happy Father's Day to Pop!!

What a joy to know and love this man! He brightens our day every time we are with him!

Kinsey was so excited to give Pop the card she made him. She was even happier to see his reaction! He loved it!  :-)

Showing him her new shoes.
Pop's 90th birthday.

Fun at the ranch.

And Happy Father's day to my Papa...who has enjoyed the last ten of them with our Father in heaven!

Thank you Jesus for making a way for us, so that we may be called children of God...

Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God--children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.

My sweet boy is 2 !!

This past Sunday was my sweet Dax's second birthday! I cannot believe how fast the time has flown! Here is a baby pic of him...

And a picture of him a few weeks before his birthday last year:

And here he is...AGE 2...

What a joy this handsome little guy is! Some of his favorite things are: playing cars, building ramps for his cars, following big sister around, dressing up like daddy (usually sunglasses and baseball cap!), swinging, talking, playing play-doh,and helping mommy in the kitchen.
His birthday party was at Poage Park in Woodway, which is our favorite park because of all the wonderful shade trees. We had a wonderful time with family and some wonderful friends.

He knew exactly what to do with his new dump truck!

When we asked him several weeks before his birthday what kind of cake he wanted, he told us, "A firetruck cake!" So every day until his birthday, he asked if we could go get his firetruck cake...he was very excited! He was also excited because someone special would be making his cake...Grandma! Here is the wonderful cake she made...

When we first got to the party, we opened up the box to show him his cake, and he immediately grabbed the firtruck off the top! He couldn't quite understand why we had to leave it on there a little while longer.

Cake time at last...

Wondering if he can grab his firetruck now!

Dax enjoyed sharing his party with his big sister, his cousin Caden, and his buddy Benjamin!

Time to open presents...
Big sis wanted to help out! She had been asking all morning when Dax could open his presents!

He was blessed with lots of wonderful toys and new clothes!

The unofficial theme of Dax's toy gifts is definitely "wheels & wings"! He got cars, trucks, and airplanes!

Some of Dax's special guests...
Aunt T and Caden

Mr. Brian, Miss Sarah, and Benjamin (or "Ben-Ben" as Dax calls him)

Had to include this picture of Sarah and me...her friendship is a huge blessing!

Play time
Preparing for a sandy slide!

I love how much fun my sister has with the kiddos!
After playing so much and getting hot, Kinsey decided she would start a game of squirt tag...

She thought everyone should play!

Dax wasted no time figuring it out!

Daddy's big boy!!

What a wonderful celebration! We love you and are so thankful for you Dax Edmund!
You are a gift from God!

Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him.

Memorial Day Weekend Fun!

Memorial Day weekend was truly memorable for us this year. There was sun, splashing, grilling, movie watching, playground enjoying, and friends...we were blessed to get to spend the weekend...Friday night through Monday pre-naptime (since timing in this season of life is usually divided into before nap and after nap) with one of the most wonderful families we know, the Werleys. Our sweet sweet friends have three kiddos 5 and under (and it's worth noting, that sleep past 7 am), have their own family routine, and pastor a church, so to graciously open their home to us (by the way, our kids are up by 6 each day) for a three-day weekend was such an incredible gesture of friendship that blessed us immeasurably.
Steve was in and out a bit throughout the weekend because of a volleyball tournament. He had to get up at 5:20 each morning to catch the DART rail in Plano to ride down to the Dallas Convention Center. So, needless to say, he was one tired daddy. Thus this picture...

Dax is becoming a big-time daddy's boy, so it was not surprising that he thought it necessary to relax too!
Saturday morning, the kiddos were asking if they could put on their swimsuits as soon as they woke up (which was around 6:15 am :-) care of the Helm kiddos!). So after breakfast the Werleys introduced us to one of the most fun playgrounds and splash pads we've ever been to...

A fun treat for Kinsey was that Audrey had two matching swimsuits!
All of the kiddos loved swinging, but not nearly as much as Dax and Ainsley!

More playground fun...

My strong little girly that was wishing mommy could snap a photo much faster...

This picture could give the impression that they happily sat at the table and spent a good bit of time coloring, but I think by the time they all got settled each with his/her own coloring book, I grabbed my camera, and then snapped the photo, they were getting down from the table and on to something else! :-)

Down time on the iPhone...(laughing at how funny that sounds to say that of preschoolers!)

I'm sad to not have any pictures to post of our Saturday night festivities, but we had an amazing time at the Adkins house. They live out in the country just outside of Anna and are wonderful friends and hosts! They have 4 sweet kiddos and have lots of room to run and play. We enjoyed a yummy fajita dinner, lots of outside playtime, great conversation, and a breathtaking sunset! We are so happy to have gotten to know them!

Sunday morning, we had the special treat of getting to be in church with the Werleys. Kinsey was super excited that she & Audrey would get to be in the same class!
That night we had a movie night and watched Mater Tales...and saying Dax loved it is an understatement!! "Mater" is officially one of his favorite words now. :-)

Monday morning, the kiddos were ready to put on swimsuits first thing again. This very fun picture is of the super-daddies blowing up a princess pool!!  :-) The kiddos were waiting so patiently!

Once the pool was up, the fun began! I so love that even though there were four of them and one pool a little on the smaller side, they were not bothered one bit!

Dax wasn't so sure about getting in with the others, so he decided to be adventurous when the dino pool was brought out and he was the only one in it! (until big sister noticed!)

Love this picture because it reminds me of what a great friend Austin was to Dax all weekend. Dax instantly loved tagging along after Austin, and Austin thoughtfully showed Dax around, played with him, gave him some of his toys he had outgrown, and patiently listened to and acknowledged him when he would run around the house saying, "Au-tin, Au-tin, Au-tin!"

Though they look worn out and tired (well, it was super hot outside, almost lunchtime, and they were definitely low on sleep!), these girls had a blast together all weekend. They got to have a "sleepover" each night we were there and had fun playing as much as they possibly could! One of the things that is such a delight when we are all together is how much fun the kids have right away. We live far and aren't able to visit as often as we'd like, but the kiddos connect right away! Reminds me of their mamas!! (we were low on sleep too because apparently you don't grow out of staying up late catching up!)

And I am officially titling these last two pictures, "Daddy's Little Buddy"! :-)
 Love Love Love my boys!!

What a great time... :-)
We love you Werleys!! Thank you for all the wonderful moments captured by the camera and not captured by the camera--lots of PB & J sandwiches, lots of toys to be picked up, 5 kiddos to bathe, watching Extreme Couponing, teaching us how to play our new favorite card game, and for just plain being our friends! We couldn't have imagined a better way to have spent our weekend!!
